hi i currently own a set of 2001 e888s, i've done the paper mod, removed the grill and made donut foamies for them, i am relatively happy with them, just that they are rather fragile, the cords feel they could break, so i dont tend to take them out too much.

was wondering how comparable the sound of a pk3 is, i'm considering picking up a pair for portable use, at uni when i dont need isolation. if theres a noticable gap would pk2's be a better choice?

budget is really the limiting factor here, as i'm going to be picking up a pair of ms1's in the next few weeks.

i hear yuins are durrable, i dont abuse my stuff but the sony's r just far too fragile. as a reference, i also have mx400s which r nice n rugged, but well just dont have that "wow"factor that gets me toe tappin i guess.

I use my PK3 for biking, and couldn't be happier. I can't really see the need to pay more for an earbud for portable use, especially not for the PK2 which apparently has less bass than the PK3.

Also, I used the E821 for over 5 years and treated them like crap the whole time, and they still work fine. Not the same as a E888, but they do have almost exactly the same design as the Yuins. The PK3 seem as durable if not more so.

thanks for that, yeh probably will pick up a pair, really liking the simple, durrable design

IMO, PK3 is on par with E888 on SQ. E888 has slightly better upper range and very warm mid/bass. PK3 loses a bit in detail and bass, but wins on the overall more balance sound signature.
