I think most of us agree that the stock buds that come with the Ipod sound pretty bad. What would you recommend as a replacement that meet the following criteria...
1) Can't be IEM's
2) Should have a low form factor
3) Should have above average sound.

Basically, I want a hastle free pair that sound pretty good, don't look dorky and are not IEM's for those times when I'm out and don't want to bring my Grado's.

here let me start the list:
AKG K26P - These have great base good mids and fold up very nicely.
Senn PX200 - These also fold up nicley. They sounded ok to me but I had problmems getting good bass.

I am using super.fi 5 pros with my ipod u2 unamped. I find this the ideal combination for portable use. The sound is just great. Very subtle from the outside. No "I-have-an-ipod-too" posturing here. The 5 pros dont go deep into the ear canals like proper IEMs, its easy to plug in and out. Plus, the benefits of superior isolation is worth the extra money. You can listen quietly in a bus or a plane and blast music in a library if you wish. U can have your music whenever, whereever at whatever volume.

In winter break, when I was flying back from Seoul to New York, there was a baby directly in front of my seat crying in and out for 14 hours straight. I never felt so glad that I had my 5 pros. I could listen to my music without having to endure the noise. Just brilliant. By the time we landed it felt more like I went to a 14 hour long rock concert. Exhausted, but with a smile on my face.

Since IEMs are out of the equation, Koss ksc35. Now they seem to be available again on koss' site, that's definitely an oportunity not to be missed.

I second the KSC75/35 idea. I've never heard the 35's, but I really enjoy the KSC75's for portable use when I don't feel like hassling with IEMs. They're really a great headphone for around $15.

I really like my Senn PX-100's for outdoors,walking the dogs and at the YMCA. I bought a pair of Koss 75's but I have floppy hound dog ears and those types don't work for me. I also tried a pair of Shure E4c's,liked them but IEM's aren't for me.
So my question what other portable headphones for outdoor use should I try out? Are the AKG k26-P's more favored than the Senn PX-100's?

Anyone ever tried those B&Os? Forget the name but they look interesting. On Amazon and occassionally Ebay. Sorry, I'm blanking on the specific names but was interested in them at one time before I got my Etys

That's all subjective, naturally. The 26p's are closed and provide (from what I've read) strong, boomy bass. The PX100's are open and are more balanced...

In my experience, for walking around/commuting in the city, open headphones are somewhat....ineffecient.
