I figured with all these threads about everyone's favorite songs and artists, it was time for one of the opposite.

I'm going to have to start with a pet peeve of mine which always seems to show up on the radio. Now, I love Grand Funk Railroad, but I fail to understand what some consider to be a masterpiece, "I'm Your Captain." For those who don't know what song I'm talking about, here's a sample of the lyrics.

I'm getting closer to my hoooooooooommmeeeeee!
I'm getting closer to my hoooooooooommmeeeeee!
I'm getting closer to my hoooooooooommmeeeeee!
I'm getting closer to my hoooooooooommmeeeeee!
I'm getting closer to my hoooooooooommmeeeeee!
I'm getting closer to my hoooooooooommmeeeeee!
I'm getting closer to my hoooooooooommmeeeeee!
I'm getting closer to my hoooooooooommmeeeeee!

Which takes almost four minutes.

And yes, I counted.

Almost all tracks on Michael Jackson's album "Dangerous" bar "Jam, Black Or White" and "Dangerous". One of the few albums I just do not like.

" Wonderful Christmastime" by Paul McCartney makes me want to stab myself in the ears with a pen knife.

That's a good one. I can't stand christmas radio.

same here, not only wonderful christmas time, but all those christmas songs you hear every year. I love christmas, but not the songs

Call it a commercial brainwash. It is the same with hits in the other seasons which is why I regard commercial radio only suitable for burning in headphones... Commercial radio even spoiled Coldplay, terrible.

Therefore I used to dislike Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" which is a very melodious and lovely. Although I began doubting Coldplay after tracks like "Fix You"...

I agree I hate all the Christmas song this does not contribute at all to my Christmas spirit.

There was this Lady Gaga song that got on my nerves as well all though I can't remember what it was.

All christmas-songs are equally horrible, as mentioned before.

I also hate every dubstep-song I've had the displeasure of hearing, every single Justin Bieber song, every single Lil' Wayne song, every single Lady Gaga song, and.... well you can probably see where this is going.

Three things usually contribute to me either liking or disliking something: Subject matter. Songs about clubbing, women, money, 'bling bling' etc. usually are horrible, as opposed to conscious/political stuff (Jack Johnson - Crying Shame is just freakin' great, for example). I also usually like songs about love as well, as long as it's not corny, like most pop-music tends to be. The two other things are creativity, or originality (or personality) and just plain how good it sounds.

Yes, I'm quite elitist when it comes to music.

A song from a Finnish hip-popper, and pretty much represents everything I despise in music, and it makes me go into a murderous rampage when ever I have the displeasure of hearing it somewhere. Thank whichever omnipotent being you believe in if you're unable to understand the lyrics. They are just... bad.

Anything in the dutch "top 2000". Well, the really annoying part isn't the music but the people talking about it. They keep telling me how amazing '70 mainstream music is and that i'm an idiot for disliking it. I don't like elitists who have nothing to be elite about, and sadly, during the top 2000 16 million dutch people turn into elitists.

Oh dear lord I had to hear this every day.

"Light me up with me on top lets falalalala lalalala

Cherry cherry boom boom!"

It's a given that most pop songs are, well, garbage lyrically.

My "least favorite" (as in, I love the artist/band, but don't really like the song) is probably NMH's Communist Daughter. I absolutely love the rest album, but I can never get myself to like that particular song.

I reserve a special place in hell for terrible songs by otherwise talented artists (or artists past their prime).  Therefore I nominate:

"Foolish Heart" by the Grateful Dead
"Centerfield" by John Fogerty
"We Built This City" by Starship (and apparently America agrees: (http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/news/2004-04-18-worst-songs_x.htm)
all the power ballads by Aerosmith (a band ruined by sobriety)
