After mulling it over (for a very long time) I think I have remembered correctly all my headgear since a child...

2017 - Nhoord Audio Red v2 (DIY)
2016 - Bang & Olufsen H6 v1

2015 - JVC HA-FX750 (my daughter permanently borrowed these)
2014 - Shure SE535LTD-J (these have been whoring away in Cali for the past two years)
2014 - Koss KSC75
2013/4 - Audeze LCD-2 (2012)
2013 - Sennheiser IE-800
2012/3 - Shure SE215SPE-A
2012 - JVC HA-FRD80
2011/2 - Shure SE215
2011 - Yamaha EPH100
2008 - Ultimate Ears SuperFi4
2007 - Beyers DT880 (32 Ω)
2006/7 - Sennheiser HD600
2006 - Apple Earbuds (I almost gave up again! :p )
1995 > 2006 “THE DARK AGES”
1995 - Koss KSC35 (what brought on the darkness)
1994/5 - Grado GR80 (and the misery...)
1990s - Sony MDR V2/V3/V4
1980s - Koss Porta Pro (along with some terrible walkman headsets by Sanyo, Panasonic, GE, Sony)
1970s - Sennheiser HD414 (older cousin gave em to me)
That is an impressive timeline. Just out of curiosity, what happened during the Dark Ages? 2-channel? No music?

Long gone past.
1982 Realistic/Koss Pro 60 full-size headphones
1991 Sony MDR-7506 full-size headphones
1998 Sony MDR CD870 full-size headphones
2006 AKG k701 full-size headphones
2010 Denon AHD-7000 full-size headphones

Modern Timeline: 2017-2018-2019 current IEM and headphone inventory

1) Noble K-10 Encore IEM
I knew early on what it was. Reading it was explained to be fairly neutral as well as midcentric and close to being the HD800 of IEMs. Purchased it after a quick demo, all the while knowing it was not my desired sound signature; but more of a complementary add in to what I like. Edit: using the Encore more and more! Right up there with Sony IER-Z1R.

2) Sony XBA-Z5 IEM
Warm yet still an all-rounder. Somehow it always showed what was great about the Encore treble and upper midrange. Relaxed yet smooth like maple syrup.

3) Sony XBA-N3 IEM
Laid-back yet polite. Very much like the sophisticated subdued girl you knew in school. A sleeper with a warm charming personality. I still wanted the treble of the Encore mixed with the Sony bass. Also I was yearning for an involved midrange.

4) qdc Anole V3 IEM
Bass heaven for a BA IEM, though very uneventful above the midrange; just getting it all done. Still offering a more cohesive and involved playback than the N3, yet still not offering the chocolate bass of Z5.

5) BGVP DM6 IEM
Wow, amazing fit and sound personality. After the getting used to period it was pure love. Still one of my most listened to IEMs and coincidentally the cheapest??

6) Sony IER-Z1R IEM
End of the road. End of the story. End of the journey. A consummated marriage of tone and technicality.......perfect 10/10. The lost unicorn.

7) Sony full-size Z1R
The best headphone I’ve ever heard. Super nice at both low level or high level listening. Super comfortable and relaxing yet detailed. Warm yet exciting.................. pretty much the end of the journey as far as full size headphone searching for me?

8) Sony full-size Z7
Fun yet technically proficient in every way. Big on bass, yet detailed and full of authority....blending perfect with most genres I focus on. A nice complement when exciting tone and slightly wild is needed. Smaller and even more comfortable than the Z1R.

There often appears to be a false association with cost and personal audio satisfaction..

(I'm one of the people who wishes "packaging" and "accessory" sections of reviews were omitted.)
