The EMU Ebony is the best for me. It is better than the TR-X00 Ebony.

Hard to find people with the EMU Ebony specifically. I got a pair recently too and they really are something special. Quite a bit better than the 177X which I’ve since sold. Too bad they’re not office friendly, but I got a pair of AKG K371 for the office (another surprisingly good closed back for the price by the way).

Also glad to read the EMU is better than the Fostex, I was curious to know how similar they are, or it the Fostex was better in any way. But yeah, the best closed back (or semi-closed, I guess) I’ve heard so far.

I think the Z7M2 and Z7 are among the best there are for gaming. I own both.

I'd recommend trying them yourself before you buy (ermm... then again...dunno how feasible this is during Covid frenzy) and see what else you like in the competing price range.

I'm not a huge fan at that price and there's no Prime on that one. So I'm not sure about the return polivy etc.

I'd pick either of them up here on the forums. They usually go anywhere from $2-400 used here on the forums. I got both of mine at a steal from here...but you won't find either as cheap as I got mine haha.

My Z7 was an open box at a Sony Store for $360.

You can get the T5p (2nd Gen) for under a grand now ($999, if I'm not mistaken), so that's my favorite closed-back headphone below the $1,000 mark.

Other great options include -

• Denon D7200
• Fostex TH-X00
