I am astounded by the masses still using WinAmp when there better players around.

Personally I prefer the Quintessential Player (QCD 3.0) from www.quinnware.com

The sound is very full and clean. Winamp to me just sounds dead like it is not making the music alive.

BTW QCD can use all of the Winamp plugins so if you are a die hard winamper you won't lose any of your creature comforts by trying this out.

Anyone care to audition a new player? your thoughts?

ps. if you don't like the flashy interface there are some very nice woodgrain skins you can use that keeps you "audiophiles" looking expensive

video=nothing beats intervideo WinDVD.
audio=mostly winamp because of the ape/shn plugins.

is it just me or is winamp a jukebox program as well?

kind of a double standard here.

"i use winamp but i don't like jukebox programs."

whats the best plugin for winamp for sound quality and link? i've tried this before and the standard plugin with QCD won every time.

okay... I'm brave enough, just downloaded it...

Bit late now, at 1.30am to test it out... I will tomorrow, and let you know what I think

bloat as in resources?

what amount of ram does your setup use?

QCD uses about 6.5mb-7.5 depending on what source you are playing from.

I used QCD V 1 when it was just a CD player !

Winamp , playlist but I don't use the mini browser or EQ but I DO use much FX which allows multiple effects to be used simultaneously , though I have not yet found one I actually like

This particular computer i am on right now isonly a 233 mhz MMX pentium 1 and winamp is playing fine

Maxvla - You know I never dug into the newer version of winamp to see what it had for jukebox features - I still use 2.x and it doesn't ask me to library all my mp3's or come with an inferior ripper - like MusicMatch. But it probably has all those features . . .

I did download QCD and will give it a try. Can I believe it when it says no spyware?
