I got thousands of albums (in most genres) in the past, but haven't kept up much with new music, so my list is just a few random things I liked. (Mostly metal, which I do keep up with somewhat.)

Lucky Lotus Records: Summertime Dreams (2 CD compilation. Some of the coolest electronic music I've heard. Sadly, limited to 100 copies.)
ATB: neXt
Blut Aus Nord: Deus Salutis Meæ
Moonspell: 1755
Cradle Of Filth: Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness Of Decay
Nokturnal Mortum: Verity
Morbid Angel: Kingdoms Disdained
Immolation: Atonement
Aosoth: V: The Inside Scriptures
Suffocation: ...Of The Dark Light
Arch Enemy: Will To Power
The Algorithm: Brute Force: Source Code [EP]
Converge: The Dusk In Us
Zao: Pyrrhic Victory [EP]
Samael: Hegemony
Enslaved: E
Motograter: Desolation
In Flames: Down, Wicked & No Good [EP]

Also worth mentioning: Countless anime soundtracks! (Which I think are far better than conventional albums much of the time. They cover most genres of music too.)

My top albums of 2017 (in no particular order):

Alison Moyet - Other
(Big voice of Yazoo fame going... Björk?)
TcdPLQ1.jpg

Andreas Schaerer - The Big Wig
(Jazz meets orchestra meets Robert Wyatt)
kJHkYxW.jpg

Charles Lloyd New Quartet - Passin' Thru
(Passionate and infectious, one of my live jazz faves of the year)
zfkFG3b.jpg

Destroyer - Ken
(Clever and elegant indie pop gems)
q7mFjGE.jpg

Fabiano Do Nascimento - Tempo Dos Mestres
(Relaxed and atmospheric Brazilian folk-jazz)
akHkS3b.jpg

Flotation Toy Warning - The Machine That Made Us
(Melodic and somewhat melancholic art-pop)
ParQDja.jpg

Jaimie Branch - Fly Or Die
(Hard to describe this quirky bag of jazz... but it's awesome, give it a try!)
drjN6zE.jpg

Jeff Finlin - The Guru In The Girl
(Another excellent album by this undeservedly unknown singer / songwriter)
ZkA6ZW2.jpg

Julia Fordham - The Language of Love
(A mix of inspired and so-so jazz covers of pop songs. The voice and recording quality make it a winner for me)
9muajlb.jpg

Kalo - Live In Nyc
(Raw and energetic. Hands down my favorite blues / rock album of the year)
tAOTpAw.jpg

Laura Marling - Semper Femina
(The lady is perfection. A folk / pop masterpiece)
kQrs6jz.jpg

Luka Productions - Fasokan
(Trippy electronic afro-beat. My favorite world music album of the year)
30UqiAg.jpg

Matthew Stevens - Preverbal
(Subtle jazz fusion with atmospheric Frisell-ian guitar play)
zdb7Avk.jpg

Mediabanda - Bombas En El Aire
(My recommendation to those who like complex / demanding fusion music. Amazing!)
3bzGv2K.jpg

Mica Levi - Jackie (OST)
(A late 2016 release, but I just had to include it here. Pretty much the antidote to Mediabanda...)
5yAv1DI.jpg

Mihaly Dresch Quartet with Chris Potter - Zea
(Eclectic mix of jazz and Hungarian folk. Another one of my live faves this year)
LRLj0iI.jpg

Morrissey - Low in High School
(Didn't expect to like this... but turned out, I was totally wrong)
ZJDogpo.jpg

The Unthanks - Diversions, Vol. 4 The Songs And Poems Of Molly Drake
(Nick Drake's roots uncovered, thanks to The Unthanks)
Bz8pcDH.jpg

Wolfgang Haffner - Kind of Spain
(A remarkably beautiful and well-recorded jazz / folk album)
bqgk5KF.jpg

Yazz Ahmed - La Saboteuse
(Arabic, jazz, and a little bit of everything. One of the most creative albums I've heard all year)

Happy New Year everyone!
