Hello guys.

I received my auto insurance renewal notice few days ago, and it was about $100 more than what it used to be. It suppose to go down rather than go up, and I can not think of any that may cause this. I called my agent, asked her why. She said they(the insurance company) have raised the rate at sometime in June, and I am not the only one. WTH? I don't know why they didn't give me any notice before, but I guess that's not required by the law. Then she asked me if I want to have other options like switching insurance company. And about an hour later, she called me and gave me quotes for other insurance companies. Some are little bit lower, and some are about the same. So I am thinking about switching insurance company, not made up my mind yet though.

I am curious... something like this happened to you guys too?

Mine went up a year ago and then went down like 6 months ago.

Just paid my premium last month and was happy that it went down. Claims filed has been low for my insurer last year and they operated on a surplus. They were doing so well that they reinbursed me with a check from part of that surplus.

Mines not up for a few months... But considering the lawyers I've been dealing with for the past 14 months I'm never dealing with the "cheapest" insurance company again.

There really is no reason auto rates "should" go down, the cost to fix cars at body shops goes up every year and the cost of medical bills for injuries goes up a huge amount each year, it is just very competitive in auto insurance market. All the commercials on TV have people "expecting" constantly lower prices.

People often think insurance is a simple generic product to be bought as cheaply as possible, but you will find out when you have serious or complicated claim there can be real difference in service/advice you get between companies........sounds like you have an independent agent who was able compare a few companies for you.

You got that right............I run small business and our group health rates go up 15-20% a year like clockwork, this is an extremely serious real world problem that gets no coverage in elections/debates etc

I got a $50 check back from CSAA a couple months ago, but I have no idea what I did with the check. I'm figuring they'll just credit me back on my annual renewal.
