Hello,
I am trying to decide between an Iriver IFP-790 or an Iaudio G2/or 5. I know they are significantly different in capacity. I am mostly concerned with sound quality and was wondering if anyone had any opinions or advice? I have heard an Iriver player and it sounded very nice.

Thank you,
Todd

I have owned an Iriver H320 and I currently own a Cowon Iaudio A2. I like the iAudio sound better personally. They have alot of enhancements and thier players seem to drive headphones alot better.

I have a ifp 795 laying around (I did own it but i sold it to my to my bro), it has good SQ, a bit lighter on the bass than my iAudio X5 but not by much, but other than that it is pretty good.

the iRiver H120 I saw was an exceptional player, and I'd venture to say that the H120 or H340 would probably sound as good (more or less) than the iAudio (I have an X5 and Samsung yp-T6Z - SRS labs vs. BBE labs - & have heard the iRivers) - but personally, I imagine the x5 is a better deal, and I don't know that iRiver is carrying any 20 gb models anymore. Have you considered the Archos Gmini 400? Best buy has it on sale and it looks like a sweet setup.

I was faced with this decision a while back and went with Iaudio because their firmware upgrades were reliable and regular compared to iriver.
Equipment wise they are similar to my eyes except that Iriver has an optical out.
Also, generally the more I learn about Iaudio products the more I like them.

Iaudio's players also have superior battery life as a standard.

I purchased an IAudio U2 a few weeks ago. The sound was pretty good with the exception of clicking or switching noises during song transition and everytime I toggled the joy stick. I also noticed a clipping sound from time to time during playback as well. It's possible that this unit was defective, but I also read another incident alluding to the same troubles. I sent mine back and exchanged it for a Samsung YP-MT6Z. I get that one tomorrow.

Oh yeah, My name is Bobby and I'm new here. I own Senn HD 595 and Shure E2 headphones. My wallet already hurts.

Welcome to head-fi, bobby - within a year your wallet will be in ICU begging to be pulled of life-support.
