I have finally begun my serious collection of La Divna (Maria Callas) operas

I knew this would happen eventually since I love her aria/recital CDs which I have a large collection of but with the recent release of EMI 70 CD studio performances (only $80-90 on Ebay) I began taking the full leap with her operas in a big way! (used at Amazon)

Unfortunately most of her prime EMI work from 1952-58 is in mono, but the studio work is very good sound all things considered and live recordings as you might expect vary according to the master source

Wow! I knew EMI has been coming out with some monster sized boxed sets and I recently bought the complete Karajan Vol 1 88 CD set. There are several more EMI sets on my wish list, both large and small. I have my eye on the Richter 14 CD boxed set and the Oistrakh 17 CD set. I need to add the Callas set as well.

For the time being I am obsessed with the Music Matters and Analogue Productions reissues of Blue Note jazz on 45RPM vinyl.
