Heh... I don't really, I only get ~$40 a week since I'm in school, and my parents are still kindly letting me live at home. I just save up my money and get a new headphone every 2-3 weeks. I'm in my "collector" phase I suppose.

I mostly search around for vintage cans and buy them cheap. My only "real" purchase was my SE-700 and, now, my DT1350s.

The rest were just shots in the dark, like most vintage cans are. Got a couple great ones, one notably being the Koss Reference One, and a bunch of **** ones. I like modding the **** ones in an attempt to achieve greater sound. Doesn't always work but it's worth it to play around with damping. I even made an earspeaker headphone out of one of them (yknow, like the K1000).

Sounds like something that could happen to me any day now, only listened to crappy <=$20 supraaural headphones most of my life, any decent purchase were circumaural ones

When you know more about headphones than the staff at one of London's biggest hifi store. A guy was looking at a set of Grado GR8's and the staff were telling him that they had 3 drivers in ear bud. Put them right straight away, then gave the buyer an in depth lecture on IEMs to help him find the perfect set.

This was the same shop that asked if I wanted to test a set of HD800's using my phone.... [IMG]

You know you're an audiophile when your audio purchases in a month have drained your income from a quarter year.

Mmmm... I ordered the ESW11LTD from japan which is supposed to be a very high end supra aural. Mainly intended for portable use but we'll see xD

How high end? If it doesn't live up to your expectations I'd say return it and get a DT1350 :p

    $700?
I'm not a fan of Beyer tbh.
Not even sure about AT but carrying the HD800 around is a bit annoying especially in the winter.

My brother today used the Shure 1840's with his iPhone at this audio store I went to.. But the employee recommended it. Can they be driven out of a iPhone? Also, he said they were just a bit better than he Sennheiser HD449's[IMG]
