I saw an ATH-M50 today at the school cafeteria and asked to audition them. I liked them. :0

This is what I would like to do with an HD800 and an LCD-2. I'm stuck between those two choices.

Though the venue isn't likely to be the same if I ever DO get a chance to do that...

I know that the AlgoRhythm isn't the only one.

The solo is literally the only good outboard DAC for the iDevices. All of the others are terrible.
The one you linked, is bad.

Really? Hm, does that mean the HRT musicstreamer II is bad?

Those are pretty much polar opposite headphones from my experience. LCD-2 = dark and warm, HD800 = bright and analytical.

Asr wrote something along the same lines:

    I don't want a mid-fi headphone, I'm shooting for summit-fi.

    Stax SR-009 or SR-007 MKII? :xf_eek:

From my experience the SR-007 is a phenomenal headphone, and is between the LCD-2 and HD800 in my tests (not as bright as the HD800, not nearly as dark as the LCD-2, soundstage is much larger than the LCD-2 but not as large as the HD800, better bass impact and texture than the HD800 but not as much extension and slam as the LCD-2, retains the clarity of the midrange of the HD800 without sounding as warm as the LCD-2).

Asr also greatly approves of the SR-007.

But why stop at summit-fi when there's stratosphere-fi? [IMG]

The Orpheus can be had for the low low low low low price of only a second mortgage!

(I am in no way affiliated with the seller, and do not endorse spending $30000 on headphones [2000 is enough])

...when you spend over $33,000 USD on a headphone system with ~$564.83 shipping (from that website).

I think you misunderstood me... the HD800 is the maximum I can afford. If I could afford a Stax setup I'd already have it.
