I think some people are confusing evolutionary change with the evolution of mankind. Evolutionary change is a scientific fact that is irrefutable, because we can observe it in action, even in our own species. If you need examples, refer to your 9th grade biology book. Anyone who thinks that organisms do not evolve is either ignorant or stupid, and in my mind, those words are synonyms.

My personal opinion of the evolution of man is simply that we must have evolved in the same way that all other life on the planet has. We share a huge portion of our DNA with every organism, from the fruit fly to the chimpanzee. The ancestor we share with the fruit fly simply existed much, much longer ago than did our common ancestor with the chimpanzee.

I'm not saying anything they don't teach you in high school.

i'd like to do a rating of penvzila's 9th grade biology teacher.

pro's: this teacher has chosen a very noble job: teacher, and has even go so far as to try to teach 9th graders biology, which is an awkward thing to have to do.

objectionable content: teaches the theory of evolutionary change and occationally performs satanic rituals, damning his students to the bowels of hell. in fact, this 9th grade biology teacher could be the reincarnation of satan, himself, and according to that textbook reference, it looks as if he's not alone!

overall: do not send your children to school, or they will eventually spend all of eternity in hell.

I have read the Blind Watchmaker and still can't go with Dawkins on this. Might I also give you some recommended reading,

Darwins Black Box by Michael Behe. I believe this is one of the better books on the subject. Behe's Is not a creationist, and has no doub t that the universe is billions of years old. While I cannot go all the way with Behe (I believe in a young earth), I can agree with him totally on the dependance of an Intelligent Design.


Give it a read and let me know what you think.

When I was a wee tad older than a shot in the dark, my dear divorced Pap would take me to any R-rated film he could trace in his desperate quest for T&A in non-wife-supervised theaters. With him, I caught the revival versions of Straw Dogs, Suspiria, Taxi Driver and even a rare showing of 10,000 Maniacs. I recall finding books with titles like _Venus School Mistress_ and _A Man with a Maid_ in his study and memorizing the dialogue to use in games of doctor with neighborhood girls. (I was nine.) Once when I was mad at him, I taped individual pages from his copy of _Orgies Round the Clock_ on sliding glass doors and the bathroom walls just before one of his parties.

I'm just old enough not to have grown up with a father who watched pornography on his VCR. But if I had, I've no doubt I'd have been exposed to films of nude women being whipped on a semi-weekly basis. And as you can see, I'm as normal and steadfast in my beliefs as anyone here.

No, I've never considered writing a book -- not once. Not while there are still doddering Johnny-whapping patriarchs to geld while listening to medleys of Viennese Waltzes.
