Purchased it to have something transportable with a quieter noise floor.

It does not have a cold tonality.

Track with normally harsh voices get softened on tracks. My reference track is Chun Li- Nikki Minaj.

Treble details do not become simbilant suddenly like cold tonality dacs.

The real differing factor is the bass extension I get with this dac/amp. The subtle hidden subbass in Kill Jill- Big Boi is presented well with no 1-note distortion. It actually gets defined as a rumbly wave. (time point 1:30 and 3:00 minute in song).

Gain switch is really small difference between low-medium-high on the single-ended output. I wonder if it a gain switch for current instead?

There is some usb type noise that comes through the output after 80/100 on the volume pot. It is dead quiet before 79 though. It is sudden.

Oh volume knob is the kind that solidly clicks as you move it. So less smooth to use, but it will definitely not change on you as you move around.

Does not lose the 3d depth plane of songs. Like some cheaper implemented dacs.

Device is very very portable. Is light and the size of my Hiby R6 Pro dap. Gets hot with use, but that is expected with running off a battery. Build quality is great and confidence assuring.

Diminishing returns mostly. But until you notice how does not roll off the subbass extension.

M400 is less warm compared to the Hiby R6 Pro. Though you can alter the R6 Pro with the global mseb.

The m400, subjectively to me, equivalent in enjoyment to my Chord Hugo 2. Both nuetral sounding and can almost approach full volume before distortion begins. (though you should probably use headphones that are not that difficult to drive; to need to approach full volume.) Hugo2 of course wins with the non-FR stuff like imaging/seperation. M400 does have AKM presentation though. Very good extension on bass and treble with colored mids.

Anyone else with this?

Same size as Hiby R6 Pro

Came with an Apple to usb-c cable!

Fixate Gel Pad thingy is amazing. Really sticks the device to my phone. Can hold the whole weight if lifting by the phone or lifting by holding the dac. Really good velcro alternative......but keep the little plastic cover to put over it when not in use.

Thanks for starting this thread!!!
Been hunting for more info and reviews on this since I saw the hawaibadboy review on YouTube.

I've been looking for feedback on this too. Until this thread popped up I've only seen the BGGAR review, which was very positive, and one other account here at Head-Fi where it died after an hour of use. Obviously the latter more concerning with a less known brand, and some more feedback might reassure us this was just a random failure of the kind that occurs at low rates with any electronic device regardless of manufacturer.

Yes I would like to know the random failure percentage too. :)

Yeah, that bbgar video was my introduction to the product too.

Battery Life. Set to Gain 1, Filter 5, Volume 70. Connected to my Android phone and UAPP.

5 hours and 30 minutes. No gradual loss of signal. My phone stopped recognizing the device. Device tried to restart and I got a funny puttering/clipping noise... So I turned it off again.

Another new thing I noticed. This device doesn't handshake with Power Delivery wall chargers. Need to use the Usb-A output of my charger, and a Usb-A to Usb-C cable for it to start charging.

Start timer

M400 turned off.

Do you ever actually need to go up to 80/100 volume? I would report back my findings but yeah... still waiting about a week now still hasn't shipped at all I'm pretty sure. Stupid coronavirus :frowning2:.

I forgot to mention the 4.4 balanced output doesn't do that noise after 80 volume.

Another thing, I noticed I can control the HARDWARE volume from both UAPP and the physical knob on the device independently.

I wonder if I should keep the UAPP volume thung fully up?

I thought uapp was supposed to let you change vol through the dac instead of android, in which case it's probably fine. There's a vol display on the little led screen no, if that is changing with uapp volume I would guess it's fine?

I don't actually see where it says that they are class A but if they are I wouldn't expect the battery life to change that much with gain/volume maybe a bigger change from running 44.1 vs dsd / 192khz stuff? The "standby time" 5 hrs only makes sense (considering still 5 hrs when you are using it) to me if it's class A (or it's just engrish?). Though I guess you already got 4.5 hours more out of it than artpiggo.

They confirmed for me processing time will be long due to cvirus so I probably can't get back to you for a month or so on power delivery/80% volume noise, or I doubt linsoul will overnight dhl to me like apos seems to. It looks like it comes with a 3A charger?

It is doing so. But I have no idea if it has a mode to preserve the stress on the battery.

It is like Hugo2 SQ. Full body and engaging, detail and separation top notch.

The device's balanced output is dead quiet from hiss.

Still not built an opinion yet. But I love my Chord Hugo 2.
