So sorry for yet another Grado pad topic but after spending 'hours' searching the forums on the topic of replacement pads and mods, I still have a question that I haven't found the answer to.

I've read with interest the mod done for Grado (225) bowl pad with the Sennheiser 19545 yellow pad however I've also read that there is another Sennheiser pad that fits the grado? Does anyone know which one this is? I tried the Sennheiser 600's today at Harvey Electronics and although I like the sound, they were too much headphone for me little noggin'. The one thing I did like alot was the velvet cushions on them though. Anybody do a mod on the grado's involving Senn's velvet pad?

Other than the 19545 and some basic radio shack pads are there any other really nice pads like the velvet ones I saw today available and been modded for the Grados?? Would these be put ontop of the bowl pads or do you remove the bowls and just put these replacement pads on without the bowls?

Thanks for all your help in advance!

I can't even find the Senn replacements that everyone is talking about. My problem is that the grill of my Grado 80s hits my right ear and really starts to hurt after about 30 minutes. I am thinking of getting some kind of really small foam pad, stretching it over the grado and then putting the bowl pad on top of that. I just need some relief from that scraping of the ear.

please post here if you find a solution, Shooey.

thanks.

Sorry for digging this up but I could not access the link posted.

Can someone explain this whole pads thing with the Grados? Which models does it affect? What exactly is the mod? What pads can you use? From where? What does it accomplish?

Thanks!

Try to accomplish what you're after by bending them a bit before you rush off for a pad switch, since the bending does not change sound but the pads will.

The link was to a Mall-Fi add that member vwap had for replacement pads for Grado headphones. The pads were modified Sennheiser 19545 yellow pads died black. Apparently they are comfortable and they sound better than the stock bowl pads that come with Grado headphones. You might pm Vwap, but I don't think he is selling the pads anymore. However, you can get the original flat pads from http://www.toddthevinyljunkie.com/ that sound better than any other pads for the Grados. The flats aren't comfortable IIRC, but they sound great.
