yellow pads on grados?

what are those yellow pads on grados called again? sennheiser makes them right? where do you get these elusive softies?

I believe they're the HD 414 pads.

Yep. That's correct. I believe you can get them by calling up Sennheiser.

You can also order the replacement pads from Sennheiser on their website... Thats where I got my velour HD25 pads that fit my K81DJ

i honestly think your better off looking for some flat pads because the HD414 pads flake off rather easily, arent all that comfortable, and are... yellow.

the flat pads also add more of what you are probably looking for with the HD414 pads... B-A-S-S!

well get the 414s if youre short on money becuase the flats cost 30 bucks. yet they are like the best pads ever if you want bass/go outside with them. im still using bowls however but i heard an RS-2 with flats and now i know what i want when i get a job.

This is a good point that no one I think has mentioned yet... .the HD414 pads tend to dry-rot earlier than any of the other pads Ive tried on my Grados. They will leave little bits of yellow dust behind and all over the things. But, it takes some amount of time for them to deteriorate to this level.

me... I prefer bowls and TTVJ flats in that order, over the HD414 pads.

yeah ive had them shipped with my SR60s by the fellows at GoodCans, and i can honestly say id rather have bowls.

people say the bowls are uncomfortable. thats actually because your ear is actually resting on the driver screen itself and the bowl kind of seals some of the sound in and stops the headphone from sliding around.

half the reason the HD414 pads left yellow snow all around my room after about 3 days is because i sleep with my headphones on. (all of them) and thats a LOT of movement.

but a lot of people love them and threw away their comfy pads. i actually liked the comfys but i actually preferred the bowls even in terms of comfort, cuz its summer and i need the ventilation.

which grados do you have? i would honestly recommend a quarter mod over anything else if you have the SR60s. the 15 dollar bowls are the other option.

I've had the reversed and modded 414s on my MS-1 for about a year and a half now, and am really quite used to and happy with them.

I have bowls on my MS2i and after about ten months they've become rather comfortable indeed! When the 414s eventually fail on the MS-1, I plan on replacing them with bowls as well.

I tried the bowls on my MS-1 some time ago and although they sounded a bit better to my ears, they weren't quite as comfortable as the 414s. A few days later I realized I hadn't bothered to re-bend the headband for a better fit and a more accurate test.

I wonder if this is due to Senn keeping the formula to manufacture the pads similar to when the HD414 first came out over 25 years ago. I am sad to admit I remember when tghe 414 first came out. They were out of the box thinking compared to headphone such as the Koss Pro 4a.

One of the "audiophile" mods for the HD414 was to use stryofoam coffee cups over the left and right ear pad for use as a closed headphone and to improve the bass.

And you thought the UE SF 5 Pro's stuck out too much.

I think it's worth paying the extra & getting Grado bowls.

I've tried grado comfies & 414s, quarter modded & reversed quarter modded but the bowls are best (although they take time to soften up).
