Well after about four weeks of waiting I am finally going to get my x-cans v2 back from the shop tommorrow or saturday

However it wont be my original as that is STILL away at mf (according to my dealer, mf is being really slow with all repairs!!) so out of the kindness of his heart he's going to let me HAVE the other brand spanking new unit they have in and sell my old one on as an ex-dem)

I am going to acclimitise to the unit again before rushing out and getting any other headphones

but like I said in the other post after seeing that ad in richer sounds for the senns hd600 in the uk for £120 I am really really tempted, though I may have to wait a month until the bank balance recovers

as I also have mario kart for the gba on order as well!!

How good are the senns hd600 for rock? I have heard that they excel better at classical. Would I be better of thinking about a pair of 580's? Bear in mind that I also have a pair of 565 ovations as well........

cheers

I would rate the HD600 as being good for any type of music. They lack the bass impact of Grados but they have a very quick, crisp yet relaxed response. Usign the X-Cans though, you might find them a bit more mellow than how I describe.

rock as in the prog rock like Arena, Pendragon, Marillion, Ayreon etc etc

? the hd600 can not be beat when it comes to prog, specially Pendragon shines witht hat setup. trust me, I heard it with a setup similar to yours (other cdp tho), you wont believe the guitar and synth solo's on them

. they'll be slightly fuller sounding than the 565 and otherwise pretty similar, but it'll be the ultimate stuff man!

David, the cheapest 580 I've found is £75 on www.unbeatable.co.uk they also sell the HD600 for £175, but for an extra £50 over the 580, you can get the 600. But only if you do it now, Richer sounds is famous having limited stock on stuff like these. Remember the CD6000KI last December? they sold out really quick, and not every store got them in stock.

But if you think the 600 is not that much improvement over your 565, then keep your cash. Oh, I forgot I am getting Mario Kart too! damn, more money going out.
