(it was all black had thin leather headband and metal) thank you for any information! have a great day!

I bought a pair of these Yamaha HP-1 Orthodynamic Headphones back in 1979. Back then, I thought they were one of the most accurate phones I'd ever listened to. As a matter of fact, I still have them and, although not quite as good as my cuurent rig, they still compare favorably to many current designs. By the way, the Orthodynamic design is a kind of quasi planar driver arrangement. It is actually a thin polyester film, which is actually a combination voice coil diapragm, sandwiched between two waffle shaped, round, corrugated magnets which drive the diapragm over its entire surface. The design of the phones was by Mario Bellini, whose signature is on the top of the headband.
