I replaced my Xonar DX with a Xonar U7 because I didn't have any room for it on my mobo anymore. I am using it to power my Tiamat 7.1 headset. I am having issues getting sound to any speaker but the 2 front ones, with the xonar DX I could chose input stereo and output 7.1 which would act as a speaker fill and I could get sound from anything and turn it into 7.1 with the DX audio center.

I cannot find anything like this on the U7 program. I can change the output but cant play with the input which makes everything sound terrible since its only using 1 speakers per ear.

Anyway to enable this, can I use the DX audio center with the U7?

Also when testing the 7.1 drivers individually via a youtube 7.1 tester, the sound comes out through all drivers not just the intended ones which it did with the DX.

Any ideas? I'm just about to give up on getting my Tiamats to work well without an internal card and just send the U7 back.

Thank you.

I would say to sell off the Tiamat and buy some nice stereo headphones and use the Asus U7's Dolby Headphone feature for Headphone surround sound.

I was thinking about getting the G4me Zero, however at 150ohms the U7 will barely be sufficient.

Probly gonna end up returning the U7 and selling the Tiamats in favor of the Zero + Magni 2.

Might consider getting the Sennheiser HD558, used ones sell for around $85 and it uses the same 50-Ohm driver as the G4ME Zero.
50-Ohm headphone should be easy for the U7 to drive.
Here is a nice aftermarket cable ($16-$22) for the HD558.

And get any add-on mic you like.

The game zeros are 150ohm, the game ones are 50ohms.

I much prefer a closed back headset, and I want an integrated mic, I dont want a free standing one, I'm a freak about having the cleanest possible PC area. Dont want the clip on type either.

Pretty much set on the G4me Zeros.

Thank you for the comments.

Looks like the older model G4ME Zero is 150-Ohm, but it seems Sennheiser is discontinuing is for the GAME Zero, which is 50-Ohms.

Where did you see the Zeros are being discontinued in favor of a 50ohm variant?

The drivers from the Zeros seem to be the ones from the PC350s, if the Ones were closed Id be all over them, however I much prefer the isolation and bass kick associated with closed back designs. Even if it comes at a cost of soundstage and accuracy.

When I checked the Sennheiser website, it no longer listed the G4ME Zero headphones, so I'm assuming Sennheiser will no longer make them.
The G4ME Zero and PC350 seem to use the same 150-Ohm driver.

They are there? However they state that they are 50 OHMs.... wth, everywhere else says they are 150 including reviewers.

Gonna have to make sure before pulling the trigger on these.

The GM4E Zero is 150-ohm, the GAME Zero is 50-Ohms
Most reviewers would have done the review with the older GM4E, I'm guessing the GAME is fairly brand new.

Wellllll just a guess, but the issue might be that your drivers in the headphones are busted?
Or maybe pairing virtual surround cards like the U7 (which I personally use with a Kingston HyperX Cloud for gaming) is plainly unsuitable for the Tiamat 7.1?
It should be used with Razer's drivers after all.

Well that's pretty damn confusing... I guess the only question that remains is which driver is the better one? The 150ohm from the PC350 or the 50ohm from the HD558s... I know the 558s are low on bass which is kinda making me weiry. I don't mind buying an amp to drive the 150ohm version though if its going to be me much better lows.

This thead turned into my other thread, perhaps we can continue this in the other thread so I don't have 2 threads going.
