Hi, just a quick question...if I plug my speakers into the headphone amp, and set it to very high gain +18db, is it going to be doing my actual amp any damage, overloading the line, anything? Or is it just acting as a pre amp? Just a question, thanks.

It'll act as a pre-amp. It won't cause any damage, but, the sound quality won't be as good as through the line-outs since 1) you're double-amping and 2) the amped output of the STX is inferior to the line-outs.
Yes, driving a can amplifier using another can amplifier will raise the distorion and lower the SNR. Just a bad idea...
The line outs are 124db for SNR and the Can amp is 117dB for SNR. Your much better off driving you external amplifier using the line outs.
