I just got the Shure E500s and have a Xin Supermini III portable amp. My problem is that I don't want to use the attenuator that come with the Shure e500s. But when I turn the volume up on the Xin amp the left ear volume initially is louder than the right channel volume up to a point...after that the right channel volume starts to catch up to the left. BUT by the time they are equal it is too loud.

I'm using an imod with it. (so no volume control there).

Is there any setting on the amp to lower the output without degrading the signal? Or do I need to use the Shure attenuator?

Thanks

And since your amp is a III version it might not have the letters imprinted on the pcb (mine don't) but the positions are the same. If you enable the 75 ohm you will lower the volume and if you enable the gain you will up the volume. There is also a DC boost jumper but I am not shure if that affects volume or not (have never played with it).
