Xduoo XD05T "Portable" Dac + Tube Amp

I have one otw. Got it for $

That probably dismissed my hope for the XD05T lol. I really like the looks of the unit. And the word 'tube'. Guess I will need to continue my search. The Cayin C9ii is good looking too but the price doesn't justify my use, as I'm mostly a speaker person.
I've heard this comment before about other tube amps and IEMs.

Kinda looking at the XD05 Pro. Something transportable not so much portable.

Just got my XD05T in today. I've been listening to them on the most power hungry headphones I own, the Modhouse Tungstens and it's amazing how well they run these. the pro's were shown to have been more than capable before but glad I could confirm the tube version as well. I'm mainly intending to use these with other less demanding headphones in my office where I wanted a smaller all-in-one option and if your use case is like mine where you're mainly looking to keep them on a desk but occasionally easily move it elsewhere, these are great for that. The biggest word of caution for me which is something others have mentioned would be that this unit definitely generates a good amount of heat and I would not keep this on your person if you live somewhere hot. It's not burn your hands hot to the touch, but makes a pleasant hand warmer for the winter months, and it sounds good to boot :)

Really loving the xd05t. Got it a few days ago. Wonderfully tube-y yet the DAC brings wonderful detail.

My only complaint is that after about an hour - it runs really hot! It doesn't really bother me. I'm just wondering if it's gonna melt down after say 3 hours!

Same here. This green dongle brick sounds fantastic.

And yea, mine gets pretty hot when I'm using them on high gain with full-sized headphones. Try them on low or medium gain if you're using them with IEMs. It still gets warm, but nowhere as hot as when it's on high gain.

Yep. I'm noticing it. I'm an IEM guy so all good. Thanks!

I bought the Fiio Q15, and this gets released just two months later! I'm kind of regretting it now.

Some people say the Q15 sounds 'analog-ish.' If anyone has both this and the Q15, could you compare them? I really like the Q15, but some issues have made me regret buying it a bit.

The output impedance is super high, which is normal with tube amplifiers and so it shouldn't work that well with IEMs, right?

I recommend reading Sir Guy's review, in particular on page 4, about the Symphonium Audio Helios (104 dB/mW@1kHz), if I understood correctly, it seems more important to consider the sensitivity of the IEMs, rather than the impedance in this case. Also checking Andy's YT video review at minute 8:07 about the FiiO FA19 (106 dB/mW@1kHz) all this makes me deduce that if an IEM has sensitivity higher than about 110 dB/mW@1kHz you might actually start to hear some background noise.
Andy also makes a comparison in his review with the FiiO Q15 in his final thoughts.
I also see people who have received they are enthusiastic about it. Sure, it gets quite hot, especially in high gain mode, bit I guess that using xDuoo 05FS1 as desktop solution, there should be no problem at all, even during summer.
My XD05T is still stuck at customs... I hope to find it under my Christmas tree. :evergreen_tree:

Ohhh, it looks interesting. Maybe I'll sell my Q15 and buy one, if they don't fix the EQ and power draw issues I'm having.

Symphonium Helios sensitivity is 104 dB/Vrms, or 83.3 dB/mW at its 8.5 Ohm impedance. It's one of the least sensitive IEMs ever made.

The background noise is only obvious with ultra low impedance (<8 Ohm) combined with high sensitivity (>108 dB/mW).

Wow! Mine dropped 2day, and it’s smokin’ out Big Head Todd & various Alligator records blues. (-;
Little tight for a few songs but it’s now hitting its groove, hard! Pushing a newly purchased pair of Shanling
Tinos fed by a Shanling M1 Plus its struttin’ & driving, ripping and snorting like a good tube pre fronting
a nice ss amp should. It’s got oodles of balls, rich tonal details, & plenty of snap! I could live with this setup for a long time.
I’ve the bass turned up but the amp on mid, just gettin’ warm. What a fine addition to the family! You want tubes
backed by a great driving dac/amp section, here ya go…

Topped off power on both devices, changed iems to Sound Rhyme SR9s, still big smiles all around 4 the XD05T,
warm, musical, detailed. Put the little ‘feet’ on the unit and just letting random play thru the M1+. This seems as
if pretty much all I could have hoped for, just sitting back and enjoying some Keb Mo, Van the Man, Nat King Cole, more
Big Head, Ottmar Liebert, ect… highly addictive and intimate and so nice rolling thru my own musical collection over
the years. Everything is sounding so fresh and clear in a way only the best in room systems attain. I’m so glad that
using the TA-66 as a preamp in my vinyl rig led me to explore this option. Xduoo is making some really neat products
that can easily be used to slide into larger systems. This one is really easy to listen too, amazingly affordable as I bet
I’ve spent more for a single pair of some such tubes over the years. Here, you’re pretty much good to go… (-;
