does anyone have an idea when the r2r dac will arrive in winter? Is the akm dac worth buying now?
afaik it will be in the last quarter of the year. Regarding the AKM dac, it depends on your preferences. there are some comparisons of the available dac options on yt. in a nutshell: the AKM is smoother, more organic with a slightly larger soundstage, but probably slightly less detailed than the ess variant. Havent heard the AKM myself tho

I agree with your opinion about the AKM with one difference (of course it all depends on the individual listener) - to my ears the ESS has a bigger stage and better resolution than the AKM (not a very big difference - slight but audible). However, the rest of the description is accurate in my opinion.

I would add to the AKM description a description which I have noticed here on the forum and my ears confirm to me that AKM is most susceptible to changes introduced by other Op-amps, on ESS and ROHM the change in Op-amps is not so noticeable.

XD05 Pro incoming my way :)
Do you guys have transport cases to recommend ?
I saw the leather one on Penon, just wondering if there are some known alternatives (other leather options, padded bags, hard shells... etc)

It has a similar size to a large graphing calculator, such as a TI nspire cx ii. There are many options for a calculator case. Just looking for something thick enough. Some cases also include accessory pouches, which can be used for the cables as well.

Just happened, the top screen turned dark, and I noticed that the battery level is low, so I connect
charging cable on "ext" mode, then turn it back on a few minutes later, the screen is back on.
So, is it related to battery level?

I've got more questions :)

Is the xDuoo 05FS1 a linear power supply ?
Is there a significative sound improvement when using it ?
Is it possible to disconnect / turn off the fan or to change it ?

Thank you.

Today I've got two new spare Op-amp boards. Ordered straight from Xduoo (service@xduoo.com) and received quite fast - in one week 👌😊. The only interesting thing is that the new opamp boards have serial version (20240411_V1.8) and my original opamp board was (20240524_V1.7). Interesting, is there any difference beetween stock V1.7 and the new V1.8? 🤔

@Ben86 Yes. You'll notice an immediate difference with sensitive transducers. I couldn't find any physical differences, but their performance is night and day. This is the version of board I was sent from XDUOO when I requested an amp card for IEM's.

Thank You for info.

Does V1.7 and V1.8 differ somehow in power output to headphones? I don't use IEMs, only full size headphones... 🤔

Did you compare both revisions? I couldn't determine any difference powering sensitive transducers.

Sure did. Few other head-fiers ordered and experienced the same results as me.
