Exactly the opposite.  Line in has usually far too low gain for the microphone. (Head)phones are (very poor) microphones. If "phone" was meant as "smartphone" or anything that can drive normal dynamic headphones, its output is generally far too high for mic preamp input.

Some gross and grouse distortion would be the result.

I use a very simple interconnect from Fiio. It's the Fiio L17 bought from here https://fiio-shop.de/kabel/213/fiio-l17
But it's also available on Amazon. Works perfectly.

Thanks mate,I already have that one too! but I thought you´re referring to the digital coax connection that was the cable I wanted and I can´t find it(the same that came with the ibasso dx90 player)

Just to be fully clear. I use this for digital coax connection. My Fiio X5 have auch 3,5 coax out and the XD-05 have 3,5 coax in. It works perfectly.

Fiio X5 probabaly can use this cable, but Fiio X5II can not. X5II needs 4-pole 3.5 jack.

It's better to use a real coax cable, I mean the 75 ohm digital coax cable. It has been proved that 75 ohm cable is the best for digital audio. For example, this one:

You can see 75 ohm from the picture.

Ru right! I just tried the coaxial output of the zishan dsd player with the digital in of the xd-05 and the l17 cable works flawlessly, what a sound! Thanks!

That cable is what I was looking for, despite the fiio l17 works well with my configuration. Thanks!

Has anyone here messed with the Buffer Settings for the TUSB Control Panel? And does anyone have preferences for which DAC filter you guys use?

There are some FR differences between the filters, as you can find here:

Haven't played around with it too much....

But otherwise, I have only found that DSD does sound better than PCM when I'm using foobar.

i own a ipod classic & want to buy XD05 for DAC & AMP

Can XD05 fully support ipod classic via USB?

As far as I am aware, it it not supported. I don't think it is possible to use an external DAC on the iPod classic....

Hi anyone, can anyone compare the XD05's sound to the Cayin C5Dac and/or Onkyo HA200 and/or Meridian Explorer 2? My source for portable use is iphone 6s, pair with Sony XBA z5. Thanks a lot in advance. Best, Linh.
