Hi - this is my first post, and I hope someone can advise me.

Just bought an XDUOO X3 and love the sound but there is one problem. I listen to symphonies and often one movement will be divided into several tracks on a CD. I rip with FLAC and on my Sansa Clip the gaps do not appear. On the XDUOO they do, and make a symphony unlistenable.

I read that you can get around this by installing Rockbox, but I do not want to risk bricking it. Is there another way? Thanks.

There's two threads dedicated to this device.  One for Rockbox and the other is just general discussion in the portable source gear forum.  Rockbox is your only solution that I am aware of and from reading, there is no chance of bricking your DAP because you can always flash back to stock fw.  I've read there is a learning curve to Rockbox though, YMMV.
