xDSD Gryphon: birth of a ‘head-fi’ legend

Just to clarify, I meant changes and extras that can be introduced via firmware updates, thanks!
Yes, and it's encouraging to me to see you guys adding new features and tweaks with firmware, for example the recent updates to volume controls. Gryphon was already pretty high on my list of next purchases, this just helps to validate that.

Yes, it is correct.

Thanks for confirming Sebastian. This info wasn't stated anywhere in the manual and lowdown PDFs, so just have to check with you guys.

Figured that since Line is purely analogue, it wouldn't pass to the DAC stage - just like DAPs set on Line Out and conneted to pure Amps before.

That's correct, a line input is meant to bypass a DAC and go directly to the amplifier stage, which is a nice thing to have for those who'd like to use their xDSD Gryphons with separate DACs.

Sure thing, thanks for your take on this subject. If we can do some improvements or extras via FW updates, we will. At times it gets a while to get some desired features done, but we're heare with our eyes widely open and all the feedback here is passed on internally :)

I've heard the 3D feature and it isn't your typical crossfeed. It's much better. Is it possible to change the level/intensity of this feature and the XbassII?

I also wanted to know what the maximum current output was? I guessed it is around 400mA but haven't seen any information about it to clarify that.

I posted my review of the Gryphon in the Showcase in case anyone is interested: https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/ifi-audio-xdsd-gryphon.25530/review/28130/

Great device!!

Thank you very much for your detailed review and rating our xDSD Gryphon this high. Enjoy!

@iFi audio, @Sebastien Chiu does the Gryphon support balanced 3.5 like some of your early products? a modular cable I purchased came with a variety of jacks and 3.5 trrs is one of them. Didn't wanna damage my unit so I've held off trying.

As per xDSD Gryphon's manual (https://ifi-audio.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/xDSD-Gryphon-User-Manual-Ver1.2_ok.pdf), its rear 3.5mm port is single-ended and 4.4mm socket just next to it is balanced. Thanks!

hi @iFi audio talking abt the LINE function apart using Gryphon as pure analog amplifier, is there any plans to make it as digital source and pure line out to be used with other headphone amp?

Hiya! xDSD Gryphon can be used as a DAC only. Upon engaging its input mode as USB, Bluetooth or S/PDIF, its rear sockets are line outs. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, what I mean was, under DAC mode the rear line both SE & BAL will it on maxed vol or still vol pot dependable? and will it act as pure line out (no amp section interference)?

These line outs are variable, but upon setting them at 0dB you'll end up with a regular line out and from there a different preamplifier can take over, thanks!
