Personally i love the file tree system. Lets me separate my EAC burned >> Lame Mp3 albums and downloaded music. Ill have a seperate folder for each artist (from albums) then another folder named SINGLES where i organize all other music into its own folders, and so forth. Plus the music on my computer was already organized, so it was pretty easy.

Beta 5 should be out now: http://eng.iaudio.com/

However somebody screwed up the upload, so we cant actually get the file!!! people at iaudiophile.net have emailed the guys, with no response yet. here is the link to the thread: http://iaudiophile.net/forums/viewtopic.php?id=4237

i guess all we can do is wait

Cheers! By the way, the X5 is the coolest dap out there

good grief, they didn't promise any firmware in august, or ever, so what are you complaining about? cowon has already added 3 valuable new options since the X5 was released

FLAC codec support
support for Canon Cameras - the only USB Host device to do so, btw
Standard USB 1.1 functionality of the USB Host port

lol, it doesn't matter what CNET says. CNET is not COWON. it's all RUMOR until COWON makes a statement to that effect on a COWON website.

I make that 1, not 3? Since FLAC was advertised prior to launch if I'm not mistaken and also if it says USBOTG, then it damned well ought to work with one of the best selling camera brands on this planet...

One of the real problems of the advertisement of firmware upgrades as a 'feature' (as iRiver, Cowon et al do) is that it makes the fixing of problems that shouldn't be there in the first place a 'feature'. I appreciate their efforts, but Creative and Apple hae the better idea IMO... a certain degree of testing (gasp!) applied to infrequently released updates. But maybe that is the non-geek in me talking.

As I said before, I'll believe it when I see it. I've never heard anything official from cowon, and only reports that they Might release an update that gives tag browsing. To me, that means it will probably never happen. If I were you, I wouldn't be holding my breath, and I wouldn't buy an x5 if tag browsing is vital for you, banking on an update.

I hope I'm wrong, but the rio people know how well things can go when you wait for something that's Supposed to happen.

All right it is everywhere , CNet, ZD net, NYtimes , Amazon.com , hydrogen Audio , Iaudiophile .net .
This has to have started from Cowon, Unless editors at all these places were smoking something similar at the same time.
Cowon has been incompetent . I love my X 5 as far as sound is concerned. I still think that the iaudio, lacks the sophistication Apple has .

Navigation changes in the FW for any company are very uncommon. They fix bugs or problems, or add big features (like playsforsure), but a minor thing like navigation is normally ignored, even by companies that have great customer service (like rio, their engineers tried to get everything the public wanted. R.I.P.)

...Not saying it won't happen, but don't get your hopes up
