Not remotely as good as Creative claims, but not quite as bad as many here rate it. It all depends on price. Its effects are pretty useless so shut those off. Then if you get it cheap enough it may output perform a laptops onboard audio and if you use low enough impedance phone it can work as a decent work, etc. rig. Basically improved audio for causal listening. I use one on a work setup when listening as my mind is elsewhere. As you see there are many caveats. Some here paid full-price and at $80US its a bad choice, but significantly less and it may work for you. Just temper your expectations. And I'm not sure how it compares to Turtle Beachs $20 solution as that couldn't run on my system. The Xmod easily beats my ThinkPads audio with A900s, but I wouldn't expect much more than that.

One more question:

Does any of them Amp the sound?

I ll be buying HD555 or HD595 soon ...both are 50 Ohm..so a good Amp circuit will be better.
