I'm very, very curious about how the CD-1700 sounds. So curious, in fact, that I'm willing to pay up to $200 for a pair (in good condition, without irreversible mods). I'm willing to negotiate, too, so email or PM me if you really, really want more than that much for your pair.

I can do Paypal or money order.

I know it's a long shot... won't someone hook me up?

gloom, some may disagree with me, but I found the Philips HP890 to be very similar to the CD1700 (I owned the 1700 for a while, and auditioned the 890 for a couple weeks thanks to TubeRoller). They have similar size, similar construction, similar fit/comfort, and very similar sound.

Since the 890 can be had for around $100, you might try them instead.

Oh sure, where were you when I was selling mine? Reynman got himself a deal compared to what you're willing to pay.

MacDEF, judging from what people have said about the 890 I wouldn't say they sound similar.

NP gloom. They weren't fitting into my system (not good enough for the melos, and I prefer grados for portable) and just wanted to pass them on... they definitely have their uses*. hope you enjoy!

* trance, ambient and house are fun on the sonys... huge earmassage, slightly rolled treble (those recordings tend to be darn bright). I don't listen to those genres often so I can't justify keeping the cd1700s.
