Hey all!

While attempting to change the open up my DT880 I made a hole through the white fibre disc that the driver unit is attached to. (See photo). I asked Beyerdynamic and was informed that this part is not sold separately, and that the driver and the disc is sold as one unit for $80.

I don't want to pay that much when the driver itself is all good, so I was wondering if anyone would have a broken or unused DT880 driver with an intact assembly they could sell me? Let me know and we can work something out.

Cheers!

I want the exact same disc in both channels to ensure matching. Otherwise when it comes time for me to sell it there will be issues.

Have you tried reassembling it and giving it a listen?  Having been working on all sorts of headphones for the past three years, I'm quite confident that those two small holes will not be an audible difference.  I really wouldn't worry about it in my opinion.  Just disclose it when you go to sell them.

Yeah I hear no difference. It just bugs me terribly haha. I guess I might just leave it for now if nothing comes up.

A tiny piece of micropore tape (breathable paper tape, available in the pharmacy section of any shop) will patch it right up, and if you're really picky you can just put a matching piece of tape on the other driver

Ahaha - I didn't think of matching the tape on both sides! Food for thought. Yes I am incredibly nitpicky about these things... they tend to haunt the edge of my awareness...
