mikeg, saw your profile... your taste seems a lot like mine! i got the mdr-f1's too!--(though i think they really suck. i got them for $20 if you believe it!.... i keep them around for the video games.) i like bicycling too... i have me dream bike finally... a rare Dean Titanium mtb (well, duh.... Dean... heh he).... too bad you aren't in CA.... i need a partner.

but seriously...

Anyone want to get rid of their AKG K1000? please contact me.

thanks,
dean

hey... welp, got the last one from headroom. it's used... but at least it's cheaper.

i'll be building a custom cable for the K1000's.... i'll post the results when i'm done.

thanks for your interest,
dean

orpheus,

Originally got the mdr-f1 to use with a Sony DP-IF5100 Digital Surround Processor to watch movies. Now connected this device between my computer and ASL AQ-1005DT amp and use my K1000 for movies. The mdr-f1 is now used by my wife for listening to opera LPs. As for making a cable for your future K1000, I got a Stefan AudioArt K1000 cable, and burned it in for about 80 hours. The sound before burn in was lousy (no highs), now it sounds fine after burn in. But, I can't hear any difference between this cable, and the stock cable that came with my K1000. Maybe after more use of the Stefan cable it'll sound better than the stock cable.

well, it really shouldn't sound that much better, for the reasons i posted in my DIY HD600 posts... but without getting into that... i say just make your own cable.

after i'm done, perhaps you can try it out... see what you think. anyway..... i can't wait 'till the k1000 arrives. it seems to be the most extraordinary headphone out there... and hopefully it will be much better than the F1.
