So I realized as of late that I had not been using my K340's as much as I have in the past, and I think one of the main reasons is that it isn't as comfortable as my DT-770's. I haven't ordered the velour pads yet, for one reason or another, so I was thinking of ways to help in that department. My main issue with the comfort comes from the fact that my ears stick out a fair bit, so if I wear them with the pads completely surrounding my ear, the ear hits the plastic and isn't happy.
So I decided to try and take a few pieces of cotton and stuff it between my pads and the rear half of the headphone. WOW! My ears barely touch the headphone now and it is much much more comfortable to wear. A nice side effect too is that the soundstage seems to be slightly larger. I'm willing to bet this is because the drivers are now at a slight angle instead of flat with my head. If anyone else has the original leather pads, try this mod out and see what you think. I have no idea if it will work with the velour pads, but if you have them, give it a shot and see!
