(Sorry wrong forum) This is my quest. Which headphones suck you into the experience and make you think that you were at the recording of the music?

I have recently purchased a Hornet M, ALO Jumbo Cryo and am now hearing things like fingers sliding up the fret board, but i want more. My Grado SR80s are knackered and i'm feed up with using a combination of twisting the wires and hoilding the ipod/amp at strange angelsto get both sides of the phones working.

Budget £200 - i know the usual suspects wil be mentioned, but in order to listen to any quality phones its a 2hr round trip and i beleive even then i'm limited to just sennheiser. Please could you also consider IEMs.

Music - Mainly Indie Rock like Muse, Kasabian, Oasis, Sterophonics etc. (80%)
Dance, Classical and R&B make up the other 20%

On a diffrent note my wife wants the BOSE triport IEMs for her birthday cost£69. I have no intention of waisting my money on these but recommendations for IEMs around that price for her would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Andrew

PS if this has been asked before i apologise. If you post the link i will gladly use it.

(oops he is using Pounds . . . in that case I wil only take 2)

I think I'd start by looking at perhaps AKG K701, Senn HD600/650, or a higher Grado like Grado RS325i or Alessandro MS21

For $200 I'd go used UM2 (excellent synergy with the Hornet) for IEM's or used HD650 or HD600 for f/s cans.

Thanks for the advice.

What is the synergy like between Hornet and Shure E500?

It's ok, not as magical as the UM2 and Hornet IMO but I'm probably not the best person to ask as I did not care for the E500's.

With £200 you should buy a pair of new Senn HD650 (I bought them £140 on Ebay.com, brand new) and that cable for the phones :

That would cost a little bit less that your budget limit.
