I stopped using my headphones for a long while and started upgrading my speakers/amp for 2 channel listening. I have Sennheiser 580's by the way. Well, I am running polk lsi9's and an svs powered sub with an Emotiva amp that gives like 400 wpc @ 4 ohms and a Yamaha rx-797 receiver a preamp. So I decided to bring my phones out of storage to help me set up some sound balence issues (my room sucks). Oh my god, the hadphone amp on this yamaha rx 797 is kick ass--it totally woke up my sennheisers. I can not believe the stuff I can hear. I bet a simalar priced 2.1 speaker/amp system would be in the 30k$ range. Wow, I love my headphnes again. That Yamaha rx-797 must have one hella headphone amp in there.
