just had to say this, I had been listening to 192kbps wma's from a subscription i'm on for months. Well I picked up an actual CD of this album I really like and ripped it to FLAC on my pc.

ermm, all i can say is i'm almost reconsidering upgrading my paltry Sony MDR-CD180's. The music is like night and day. Its just too bad there aren't any music subscription services that offer FLAC

I don't mind. I like collecting CD's even though I only will rip them once to flac and store them to a CD stand.

I do the same...I collect the CD's and rip all my music onto my hard drive and mp3 player in FLAC (only). Flac is the only lossless format works for me...and I store away all my cds in my storage cabinet as a backup.

Always good to have peace of mind...just in case.

NOTE: I stopped completely encoding my music in lossy formats like mp3 etc...

It's ALWAYS good to have that CD copy, just in case.
