Education is our collective of knowledge handed down to the young or inexperienced. If you spent any amount of money on Head-Fi, if you spent any amount of time here, would you suggest new members do the same as you or different?

Let them know what to do or not to do. Here is your chance.:)

If I was too confront my self at the very beginning of my search for sonic improvement
I'd tell myself the following
no matter how many reviews you read, or poster's advice and opinions you ask, you've got no real idea what somethings like until you hear it for yourself. after all my favourite restaurant isn't a place I've never eaten, and the worst cup of coffee I ever had came from a otherwise successful cafe
I'd also tell myself the search will never end! even thought you might climb the tallest mountain (or own an abyss or an ak380 or the auralic stack) you'll still want to climb another mountain because no one thing will ever completely fulfil you

I would tell myself not to agonize over every purchase decision. If you can afford it (meaning whether you buy or not has no impact on any other purchase decision) and you are interested/curious - then buy it.

There is a gamble/risk aspect to Head-Fi but such is life. And like life, you can analyze it a ton, but still not have any real answers till you move forward.

The best times are the surprises. Most of the time the surprises are not planned or expected but just happen.

I am a bit of a minamilist and dont like all of the spaghetti hanging out of hi-fi units(wires).i was researching for ages and trying to find a decent minimalist system.i was after some speakers with an integrated ipod dock and amp-by pure chance i stumbled across the monster clarity hd model ones for £180 in a factory clearance sale.after a quick look on the net for reviews i bought them-what an amazing suprise. Also always try before you buy.take your own source with you if trying headphones(ipod, zune, clip etc).also price aint everything-sennheiser px 100 and i pod shuffle 1st gen sound fantastic too me.

This may sound really silly and non-scientific but I feel we all get just what we need in audio, not always what we want.

The stuff we get is meant for us to have and enjoy. It's like getting a dog because the universe knows your going to love it and take care of it.
