i know i know, nothing beats corded phones, but I really want cordless. I'm looking at these head phones....money is limited but I'd rather not buy utter crap, I've used Sony head phones in the past and loved them. Has anyone used these wireless headphones, or have any input on them? thanks in advance!

I'm sorry to say this, but you just haven't heard anything better for the price that's available out there. Most of the current Sony headphones are utter crap for the price that you'd be paying for them. Especially their wireless headphones, which cost a lot of $$$, but sound no better than stock Walkman freebie headphones.

Sorry but what do you mean exactly? the way you typed that out is a bit confusing. But i'm thinking you meant that Sony Headphones are junk, and the cordless is worse.

just so you know, im not into headphones like some or most of you are. I have a friend that hangs here and he's really into head phones....I use cheap Sony 25 dollar headphones....they are crap but I dont need 200 or more dollar headphones, they arent that important to me. Infact I prefer my speakers anyday because I love it loud and i dislike wearing headphones, but Im trying to be respectful to the peops next door to my house, so a better set of headphones are in order. Cordless is what i want. I dont HAVE to have them, but i want the freedom to move about my computer room without a cord snagging on everything....

can anyone give me any suggestions on a decently priced cordless headphone?

That's exactly what I meant. Why settle for Sony when the same amount of money buys you another brand that's much better in sound quality (e.g. Grado, Sennheiser, AKG, Beyerdynamic)?

FYI, the Sony MDR-RF945RK cordless headphones lists for $130. That's the price that you'll pay for those headphones at most brick-and-mortar stores, plus any applicable sales tax. But I've seen those same headphones advertised on the Web for as little as $59.99. I've personally heard those RF945RK's, and they're not worth even the $59.99 price. I've heard $30 corded headphones that sound way better than the cordless MDR-RF945RK's.

alright. so you dont like sony, what do you think of Sennheiser?
im looking at the RS65 model. I think their price is a bit steep, and my buddy tells me they are over rated....what do you think of these brands/models?

Sony MDR V700DJ corded

sennheiser HD477 corded

Bose Triport corded

Advent AW770 cordless

Im most likely grasping here, but i really do need something and quick. I dont buy off the net so i expect to pay a little higher price, but thats fine...

I'm sorry but both the Sony MDR-V700DJ corded and the Bose Triport corded are way overrated. We at Head-Fi almost universally dislike those two 'phones, even though they do have their fans. And no cordless headphone from Advent has gotten any good reviews here (RCA/RadioShack both distribute re-badged Advent headphones).

The Sennheiser HD 477 isn't discussed much over here, either. If you're gonna spend as much as the HD 477, I'd look at the next-higher-level HD 497 before I would settle for the 477.

By the way, if it's Best Buy that you're thinking of buying headphones at, fuggedaboutit. With the exception of the mini-portable Koss KSC-50, Best Buy brick-and-mortar stores - at least those in my area - has absolutely no headphones that are worth buying at all. And none of them stock any Sennheiser headphones at all within the past year or so. The Sennheiser headphones that you'll see at Best Buy's Web site are officially sold only mail-order, through their Web site only, but you can arrange for in-store pickup for those orders (in which case they'll ship directly to a Best Buy store of your choice rather than directly to your home).

hmmm i see. well that pretty much means i dont upgrade. lol ive listed nearly every headphone that i liked in my area. im using Sony MDR CD60's right now, i would think almost any of those would be leaps and bounds better. I think ill have to just go to the store tonight and test some out for myself. Thanks for your help.

If anyone else would like to give me some imput as well ill be waiting....

lol yeah i was looking at BestBuy...I know ill pay more at these stores but since i refuse to buy off the net, its a price i have to pay. ill most likely stop by Tweeter, goodguys, circuitcity, Frys electronics, and if I dont find anything ill stop at BestBuy on the way home.

Not all cordless Sonys are trash...

There was one model, I can't remember exactly the model # but it was something like MDR-RF1210K from about 5 years ago that got good ratings from various consumer magazines...

...might be worth a look on ebay if cordless is the only way to go

well unless i see something when i hit the stores, Im buying the Bose Triport head phones. consumer guide gave it their "best buy" tag, and a few other reviews ive read all love those head phones. $150 is right in the price range i was aiming for as well. if i dont like them i can bring them back. I love alot of bass and from I understand these headphones deliver.

you have a fry's electronics around you? they usually sell the sony v6 for 80$ (at least its that much in AZ), and i know compUSA sells a couple of sennheisers; 457, 477, 497 and 500 (457 and 497 are the only decent values if you ask me...avoid the 500's...made that mistake a year ago).

150$ for triports? you could get _much_ better sound for a lot less.

edit: just noticed you mentioned bass...the 457's are a warm sounding headphone with a good, but not excessive, amount of it...excellent beginner can for a basshead. something like 50$ retail too, not near as large an investment. even after i picked up my grados and akg's, id still go back to the 457's for a little bassy fun every now and then. and although i havent tried them, from what ive read the v6 provide a good amount of not-too-bloated bass. but its all subjective, so...
anyone else with some advice?

my two cents
