Hey, this is my situation, I bought my senn 590s about 4 months ago, love em, nice headphones, but at the same time, I also bought some bookshelves (paradigm monitor 5s) and a paradigm pdr8 subwoofer -- the reason I am thinking of upgrading is because - I find this lil 8" sub to not really suiting me for what I want in low end in my music, and the subs that I do like, cost too much for me right now, plus produce too much bass for my apartment life right now :p I only got it cuz it was cheap ($300 CDN)

Anyways, I am thinking of returning the sub, I only get store credit, and I could also return my senn 590s also and grab the 600s (with change of course, maybe a cable upgrade from the store for the 600s) My source is a nad c320 BEE int. amp connected to my PC & a nad 541i cdplayer for when I listen to straight redbook, I listen to mostly electronic music, and ambient and classical, a lil of everything really, I am going to go and listen to the 600s in the store of course, but just thought I'd throw this idea out to some pros who have maybe had more time to compare these headphones?

Thanks for your time.

The HD600 is not an upgraded 590. It is a completely different sounding headphone.

I say do it, for 2 reasons:
1. The 600 is a superior can, and you can grow with it when you get a dedicated headphone amp.
2. The Monitor 5 will sound better WITHOUT the PDR8.
Go for it, especially with a dealer relationship like this!

Yes they do -- thats why I never use the pdr8

I will have to see, or maybe buy some newer stands/cables for my monitor 5s, or a nice hardware EQ, like a yamaha or something, they had a one in the store for about $300, just wanna spend the money to upraade my sound somehow overall :0

600 should sound very different from 590, but if you like 590 and 600 cost much more, then I don't think you need to upgrade your 590.

BTW, to have a subwoofer in your music setup may not be a good idea.

Hi Asmo!
If you are really considering a de facto "upgrade", consider getting the Stefan Audio Arts upgrade cable for the HD 590's. The people who get it usually say it's well worth it soundwise.

I think it is pretty easy to make a DIY cable as 590 use standard 2.5mm and 3.5mm connectors. I am planning to make one for myself, ant it should cost about $$6 plus shipping if you have the tools.

Thanks for the input, I heard the 600s today, I think I will stick with the 590s and just upgrade the cable.

so, what else can you use the store credit on? a Phillips SACD player?

why not find a friend that wants something, then you order it using your store credit and he gives you the cash?

I could find a SACD Player, but I don't have any sacds

Yah I could do that too with a friend, but I would just spend the cash on audio gear anyways lol.
