So I just got my used pair of HD580's in the mail, and wow, these things are awesome!

I had been using the HD595, and just like everyone has said, there is no comparison. The base is better, way more detailed, better highs, everything has so much more weight. I LOVE it!

My setup is HOTUSB DAC -> Little Dot I+ -> HD580. I had been a little worried that the Little Dot would be underpowered with these, since they are 300 ohm. However, they sure sound good to me. They will probably sound better with a more powerful amp, but Im digging it for now.

Wanted to thank this board for starting me down the road of hi-fi, and Deepak in particular for selling these new phones to me!

Yes, do the sound-card thing and let us know what you think...

And also do the HOTUSB1 right into the headphones without the amplifier buffer stage...

Very curious to hear what you think...

Mine were well broken in - over 200 hours of pink noise, and only used properly for less than 20 hours.

Question was for the OP... but I am interested in a new pair of phones and a Little Dot or other amp, any info you have about the system would be appreciated.

Trying to compare HD555, HD595, HD580 and ATH-AD700s for use with a Little Dot III or IV or other bargain tube amp.
