Just wanted to see how many of us are out there making headphone cups, stands, desks, listening stations, racks, etc. I thought it would also be fun to talk about projects and possibly inspire others.

Wow that's an awesome table!!!!! The leaves out there make me miss VT and NH where I grew up, although we are in the mid-west I vow to get back to that area as much as I can when I find time.

What type of finish did you use?

I plan on building an acoustic guitar when I find some time - hopefully one day and I can post it in here maybe.

That headphone table and all the stands were made from spare wood leftovers. I struggle to throw it all in the fireplace and challenge myself by finding something to do with the scraps. My woodworking specialty is desks, and most of it is sourced out of the backyard. I live on a 40 acre woodlot and pull the trees that are on their way out. Those end up on a 36"-capable bandsaw mill in somewhere between 9/4 and 8/4 slabs to cure/dry for about a year. Then into the shop for your typical prep and build.

That headphone table is 100% sourced from a sugar maple that fell near the house. The desks I made from it were done off the spalted parts of the tree and this was the leftover bits that weren't as figured. Also why it is butcher blocked. The only other material (aside from the drawer slides) is wood glue. The glue-up was a pain because I added the extra challenge of running all the legs at a 5 degree angle with supports and a drawer to match.

The finish is what I call "fast and lazy." Normally, I run with the Festool finish or spray. My wife was tired of me messing with this project, so this got the thinner/poly/linseed mix.

A guitar from scratch would be one helluva challenge!

That set is made from sweet gum pods taken from my brothers yard.
