Finally found my digital camera cable, so... I just took these pictures. My design was inspired by Wodgy and his gorgeous Wood&Steel META42, so a special thanks goes to him.

Very Beautiful dooboo. I have to ask though, why the 1/4" input as opposed to phono?

thanks for all your comments!

MagusG - the reason why I used the 1/4 instead of RCA is because of flexibility - for the META having RCA jacks (separate ground) does not have any sonic benefits so... to be able to use an RCA IC with an RCA "converter" cable as shown on the last picture, and also to be able to connect a 1/8" mini to mini easily in case of portable use. Also, I had very little space at the back so having just one 1/4" over two RCA jacks helped a lot.

And I like the nice smooth click of 1/4" jacks... *click click* aaaaah...

Very nice indeed!

I love the wiring, from what I can see the soldering looks excellent as well. I noticed a ferrite in there? Neat. Gotta love stacked buffers as well.

One question - what's the three switches for on the back? Power and ? ?

Only one input and output.. must be crossfeed? perhaps multi-levle crossfeed?

In fact the wiring looks so nice, I think a clear glass top and some internal lighting would make it spectacular

Hey Tina, haha, nice to hear from you again.
wink.gif

Well, you see the big DS1802 chip on the second to last picture? That's the digital pot chip that I just got.
biggrin.gif
I haven't had time to play around it, but the chip is a really easy to use chip apparently - and I've got all the pushbuttons and stuff to try it out one day. It should be fairly easy to implement, and when I have time to build myself another amp (and money... sigh) I'll definately be trying the digital pot then.

I'll post my findings with the chip as soon as I get results from playing around with it.
biggrin.gif

Oh and I'll be bringing this amp with me to Korea, so if you want to try it out and see how it sounds, I'll be more than happy to have a Seoul mini-meet or something.
biggrin.gif

BTW, starting early July, I'll also be teaching at a Hakwon, one at Kangnam station, for two months.
biggrin.gif
this is actually going to be my second year going back to teach over summer. Anyhow!

Haha yeah I got so broke with this amp...

(BTW, if you're wondering where the other thread went, it was deleted, and all the non-huge-photo posts were merged into this one. Duplicate threads are unnecessary, and since we didn't want to kill the modem users -- hell, even the broadband users with those 1600x1200 pix

-- we kept the smaller ones.)
