I have a pair of GS-1000s and I am wondering if there is anything I should know about maintainence of the wooden chambers. I realised recently, I am keeping it in the sunny part of the room all the time and that humidity may cause the wood to sound different? Am I just being paranoid? I don't recall my dad's speakers having such issue.

Just thought I'd ask whether it is true or not.

Don't get them wet, don't leave them in direct sunlight, don't leave them in an extreme temperature or humidity environment for long periods of time, and don't burn them... other than that you should be fine.

Wood is a fairly sturdy material. It can deteriorate if abused but they should stay in good shape otherwise.

Treat them like you would a guitar. The worst thing for wood is drastic changes in temperature and humidity.

dan1 pretty much sums it up, although you will want to keep dust and lint etc away from the those larger screens too..so as to not get any impurities into the driver housings which are imbedded in those mohany wooden enclosures..

Headphones are probably sturdier than my cello, but last year the instrument cracked right down the front due to rapid humidity change. It doesn't mind dry or humid that much (obviously extremes are bad), it's mostly the changes. Here in Jersey it went from like 70-80% humid one day to 20-30% over the next couple days, and that did it. Changes like that wreak havoc on wood.
