Antibacterial soap... kills bacteria... bad karma?

Couldn't really figure out which form to post this one to...
Yesterday I read some hearsay that spoke of someone taking a wireless RF transmitter/reciever in the GHz range meant for wireless video transmission. The claim is they plugged an SPDIF coax into the transmitter and was able to recieve the signal and feed it into a DAC without a problem on the other end.
On the surface this seems plausible but even if it worked I wonder what kind of effect it woul dhave on the sound because there HAS to be a lot of errors introduced.
So, anyone else ever heard of/tried this trick? I'm thinking it could be a cheap way to distribute output from an MP3 jukebox all over the house.
