I'm trying to get some wire and I found some that has this spec: M22759/11-24. I know that its some mil. spec and 24 AWG, but I have no idea what it means other than that and while I have tried to google the translation, I keep coming up empty. Does it have anything to do with purity? Thanks!

It's silver plated copper, mil-spec is good.

M22759 is a sort of gimpy way of abbreviating "MIL-W-22759", a government spec for PTFE-insulated silver-coated copper wire.

Technically, what you're looking at should be described as Mil-W-22759/11-24, which specified a 600VDC, 24AWG wire roughly .043in OD, including (PTFE) insulation, rated to 200 degrees C and composed of 19ea 36 AWG strands.

It has nothing to do with purity, no.

I am not familiar with the specification in question, but I am pretty sure the OD is not four thousandths of an inch - .043" perhaps?

Hmm, is it good enough to use as hook up wire in a β22? I get so confused about what to use after reading all the different things about purity and 5n stuff. I know what it means, I just don't know how relevant it really is.
