I don't know if it would be helpful, but I have a little laptop I can bring along.  Dual boots Win7 and Arch linux.  It's not super fast, but we're not going to run Crysis on it
 
I don't have any kind of external DAC/AMP for it, so there's that caveat.  If interested I'd be glad to load any software (that isn't $$$) on it to try out or use at the meet.

So, as far as spaces, the two cheapest options I've found based on our current size would be either a board room at the Hampton Inn. It has one large table and eight executive-style chairs. It's in the Hanes Mall shopping area off I-40 which has a lot of restaurants, of course (Jason's Deli, Which Wich, Chipotle, Moe's, KFC, McDonald's, etc.). It would cost $120 of which I could probably afford $40 which means everybody else would have to chip in to cover the rest or either try to convince a local audio shop to turn the meet into a sales meeting (gross) so they would pay for it. They'll give us some water and coffee (woopty doo). It's booked on the 13th but open on the 20th.
 

 
Another option would be the local tea shop called Angelina's (http://www.angelinasteas.com/). It would be free but less private, if that matters, and the chairs aren't as plush. I've never really seen it very busy in there, though. Bringing outside food in would be fine but the only concern the owner has is that no one bring in outside drinks -- mainly caffeinated drinks. He said he would be fine with us moving the little glass tables he has to the side and bringing in a large folding table. There's a really great Indian restaurant called Nawab (http://www.nawabindiancuisine.com/), Midtown Cafe (http://www.midtowncafews.com/food_lunch.html), and another diner-style restaurant called Mayberry in that same shopping center. There's also a Whole Foods, Firehouse subs, Qdoba, Panera, and a McDonald's nearby. He's got a great selection of tea and some snacks.
