I'll open this post by saying that I've always liked the UI of windows media player 11. Its straightforward and looks cool. That said, I never really used it beyond testing because of the sketchy FLAC support and its incessant need to mess up my album art.
I saw this post on Ars and I'm really quite excited to use it. WMP12 is EXACTLY what I have been wanting from a media player UI wise. It has the wonderful dedicated library view of years past but also a very compelling and functional looking mini player for both audio and video.
I'm excited. I just hope that the support for H.264 video, AAC audio, and both Xvid and DivX mean that we might even get proper FLAC support. If it supports FLAC and leaves my album art alone this will certainly be my media player of choice.
