HI DUNCAN:
I went to the Laundromat today and had my Eggos on and went out side to have a smoke and it was real windy out. I turned to the wind and heard nothing but my music. Then a few cars and trucks went by and I still heard nothing but my music. You asked my to get into the wind to see if it would affect the eggos. DUNCAN you really need these eggo D66 for portability and don't be surprised if you use them at home because of how light they are.

Lou, is there a way to adjust the fit on the Eggo's? I tried out a pair yesterday and they let in all the car and truck noise from outside.

HI BILL: How are you. WOW you got the Eggo D66? If so great. How do you like them please post on them. I just have the right size ears I guess because the Eggos fit me just right. I hear noise with no music on but as soon as I put on my music thats all I can hear. I play my portable radio at moderate volume. Could it be because I am 60 that once the music is on thats all I hear. Don't for get you are still a young pup and have better hearing than me I would guess. Nice hearing from you

Hehehe, ok... good deal!

Once I get the D66s, i'm going to look out for a used pair of D77s... or else, I might see if I can meet up with another head-fier (who has got a personal CD player with my name on it
wink.gif
) who has a pair of D77s, to see if I can do a quick a/b comparison

The D77s, I remember have Diamond Evapourated Diaphragms... so should, technically have a tighter, crisper sound than the D66s (unless the 66s have the same kind of diaphragm rather than the standard PET??????)

Thanks

You mean the real crisp, tight feeling that my Diamond Evaporated Diaphragm MDR-7509 has?

lol, ok Bangraman.. good point

But... my Sony MDR-A22L, and for that matter the MDR-A21L earphones that I have that are now about 10 years old... they sound (comparatively speaking) great

- and they have that same kind of diaphragm...

The A22Ls have the same drivers in as the infamous MDR-E484s that were being traded for up to $150 this time last year... and the A21Ls, slightly brighter... They have MDR-E482 drivers IIRC...

The A21Ls came as standard with American D777s when they were brought out... and are a very good match

Sounds like noise cancellation at its best: blocking it before it reaches your ears.

Thanks for this extra tidbit of info Lou. It really helps those of us considering such things as noise blocking and decent cans. Great job!

at the risk of actually adding to this thread, i wore my eggos out a couple weeks ago during a very windy day, and i could hear the wind over the music. i was walking around, so sometimes it was louder, sometimes softer.

I am fully aware of the wind factor you all are talking aboot. I have the D-77's, and it all depends on the volume you are listening at. At times on the train I can fully hear the conductors announcement, while listening to Emmylou Harris. Now while listening to Phish, I am fully engrossed, the volume is tad bit up, and I am pretty much shut off from the world. As with the wind, pretty much the same applies. Being in Chicago (the windy city) I do encounter noise. It is while I am on the plaform or walking. It is the sound of paper buzzing in the wind, or paper put in a piano on the strings. It also depends on the angle of the wind, which is obvious. This is all lost if the volume is turned up enough. I don't listen at excruciating levels either. I wish you all luck on your quest for the D-77s, they are the bomb!
