It's been over 10 years already and yet no new model introduced by Etymotic. Isn't ER-4S superb enough already? Let's hear this.

I recently bought stello HP100 and it has filter feature. When I use ER-4B with filter B (high reduced), it COMPLETELY blows ER-4S away. It sounds very more musical and much more realistic. The notes it perfroms is really much closer to the real sound. I wonder if Etymotic will make ER-4B+hp100 filter B version or do some more research to suit 21th century era like ER-4R (Reference). If it's released, I will definitely buy it.

At MacWorld in January Etymotic's founder called the ER-4 series still "the best earphone we know how to make," so I'm going to surmise that they're not going further upmarket very soon.

It sounds like your 4B + high-reduced filter is somewhere between the 4S and 4B in sound. I'm curious, do you know just what the response curve of that filter is? The 4B was much too bright for my taste, and I like the 4S much better, but something in between might be interesting.

normal 4B is too bright, I agree and I used to step away from 4B until I found something wrong with hp100+4S and paired it with 4B. So I realized that 4B with finer decreasing high frequency tune like HP100 filter B (or something like that) sounds really better than 4S IMHO.
