I guess that depends what you mean by get by. I think it's too slow and there's not enough video ram. I don't really consider playing at 640x480 and details turned off in the game pleasurable.

You should be able to play games from 2 years ago fine. The latest games maybe a bit too slow.

Dan,

I'm not really into gaming anymore, but I used to play Counterstrike, Shattered Galaxy, Starcraft/Warcraft, etc. They all worked fine if a little slow. My operating system was Windows 2000 pro.

It really depends on what games you want to play. The good news is that most games have free demo's you can try out. You can see how the game runs on your machine before buying it.

Do you already have this laptop or are you considering it? If you are considering, maybe save up and get a better one. And please TRY not to spend the saving ALL on audio

Depends which games. Older games should be fine, for the latest games, some yes, some no. Most sports games should be OK. I've played all of this year's EA Sports games on a 7500 with good results. Driving games, probably not... Colin McRae Rally 3 was slow, Need 4 Speed Underground was slow, F1 99-02 was OK (used same engine as last year though), NASCAR was slow but not bad. Call of Duty was playable at low res, but barely. I have a GeForce3 in another computer and I'd consider that the absolute bare minimum for games released these days. Max Payne 2 with the GF3 isn't bad, but even something seemingly simple like Simpsons Hit and Run is slow at high res (1024x768).

I already have it and love it too much to get another one...maybe an upgrade in the future...when I have settled down as far as audio purchases
