Did you change the output rate?

Go to applications -> utilities -> Audio-MIDI

There you can define your sampling rate. Be aware though that FLASH content is allergic to the 96kHz setting, so once Youtube becomes a silent affair you have to go back and change it down (Note: iDVD and Garageband will change your setting to 96 without notice). 48kHz runs fine.

My hint was for Mac. You have to go through the Audio-MIDI-Setup/Configuration app as described. It will have a chooser allowing you to edit the attributes for "Audio (integrated)". There should be two fields below, Audio-Input and Audio-Output. "Source" on Audio-Output should be "digital out". Below that are two choosers for Format/Hz and Wordlength/16 vs. 24Bit.

Ok i tried it, it worked, but, Is it really out putting at 96khz? The light on the Music Fidelity dac is set constantly to 96khz even though the songs are not that high quality. How does it work? Does the dac set it's self to 96khz but just play the song depending on what the original is like? Or does it try to up sample all the songs to 96khz?
